Ahhhhhhh...to experience my all-time favorite adult contemporary hit in *all* its original vinyl glory! Nothing says late summer 1970 (I had just turned 11 a couple months earlier) quite like “Out In The Country.” It introduced me to the concept of rock lyrics as poetry. It affirmed the need for solo time to recharge...to focus on and select those items most illustrative of one’s values and soul’s desires before contamination in the world dulled one to them. My heart soared (still does!) so much over this song that I even played it in the background while on that first phone call with my first boyfriend in February 1972! ❤️

I had most of the Three Dog Night albums back then. I went to camp one summer and she gave them all away. I felt like I had lost a close friend.

Easy, breezy. It’s got a swing to it that makes you close your eyes, lean your head back and sway along. Bliss!

Never knew how political this song was back then. Just loved it as a great slow dance tune...
