Once the world was endless. And you needed an anchor at home. Now the world has turned to a stadion for small efforts. Both geo-political- and travelling-wise. But the world is not better. Perhapes it was at it`s best, when Jo Stafford recorded this song!
I will be 85 in a couple of weeks. Lost my best friend from college this week. He also was my boy friend at Lees-McRae college. RIP , Richard Max Kellar. Wonderful memories.
Robert Luevanos I went to Korea in 1952 and I first heard this song there on a mountain top close to the 38 parallel I have loved the song since but only sung by “G. I. Jo” as Joan Stafford was called by WWII soldiers and I also remembered my buddies with a tear in my eye I am 87L
This was played at my eldest sisters funeral, it was her favorite song from the world war 2 when her husband was serving in North Africa. It was a big wartime favorite
