Wow. I have never heard this Bjork song until today. All I can say is Zach Hill from the band Hella needs to perform this song live with Bjork. The drums totally remind me of him. Lol :)
record moguls dont decide what the recipe to success is, the consumers do. If bjork sells 100 million records tomorrow and they started playing her videos all over mtv, suddenly it would be ok to call her a corporations puppet. see it happen all the time. Its almost like u have to purposefully go against all convention just to not be called fake, and probably not make any money. People make the music that they like, i doubt its a concious decision on bjorks part to make contrarions happy.
I beg to differ with you, darkjadice. Record Moguls most certainly DO decide what the recipe for success is - success meaning how many records their carefully signed artists can sell. They normally choose all the music that appears on any album - as well as what appearances the artist will make to promote that album - why...they even determine what the album cover will look like. And which cuts from the album will become singles distributed to the radio stations for air play? Moguls decide.
An artist like Bjork refuses to crumble at the whim and force of her record company. She is remaining true to her talents and desires, despite not ever being a huge commercial success, because she refused from the very beginning to allow the "machine" to bend and mold her. She is happy being herself - and making her music - so for that - I say kudos to her.

This song ALSO features Brian Chippendale of the incredible Lightning Bolt on drums. The dude is a literal drum god.
